(1880-1953)
   violinist
   Born in bordeaux, Jacques Thibaud studied under leading musicians at the Paris Conservatory and won his first prize for music in 1896. Soon he was engaged as a concert soloist. His style and technique brought him a brilliant international career and reputation and, in 1905, he joined alfred cor-ToT and Pablo Casals to form a trio that was celebrated for its exceptional interpretation of classical and romantic music (Mozart, Beethoven). In 1943, with marguerite long, Thibaud established the competition that bears their names and that soon became international (1946).
